Before I knew about Sony Vegas, I thought I had to change my vob files to another format to use Movie Maker and so I used DVD Ripper (isofter) to convert them to avi files. However, now that I have Vegas 8.0, if I try to use the avi files, they are all choppy and slow with the audio way out of synch. I tried to find the original vob files on my computer but they seem to have been transformed totally by the other program. I had put all of the footage onto my hard drive so I could reuse my mini DVD disks.

    Any suggestions?

    Thanks
    Dave

Suggestion number 1 - Post in the appropriate forum. This is NOT "Latest Video News". Please look at the forum lists before posting. I would guess that the "DVD to Avi ..." forum is best for this.

I am going to ask the moderators to move this.

AVI isn't really a format, it's a container name for many formats. What format (Codecs) is the AVI type video and audio using? Gspot should tell you that.

You may not have the proper codecs, assuming the video and audio are not corrupted. Try playing one back with VLC player. It uses it's own codecs, so might tell you if it's a codec problem.

You could also try opening them in VirtualDub. It can fix some problems.
