Ulead MovieFactory 2 burning SVCD

Hi,

I have converted a divx copy of Sinbad into SVCD using Tmpgenc. Since the movie is 83 minutes long, I split it into two. When I was preparing to convert them, I made sure that they would not take up the full capacity of the CD because I wanted to put menus and chapters on them. After they were finished converting, each MPEG is approximately 785 MB.

In MovieFactory 2, I begin with the first CD and create 1 menu, 5 chapters. Each chapter is 8 minutes long. At the end of the process, I begin the burn to a CD-RW. I then notice that it is burning a 684 file onto a 702 MB available spaced CD.

If I wasn't going to put menus on this SVCD, I would have used VCDImagerGUI which would have converted the MPEG into a .bin file and burned it with Nero 5.5.

My question is if burning with Nero sees this file as a SVCD, i.e., a file that based on length (time) of media, why wouldn't Ulead MovieFactory 2 do the same (when specifying SVCD) and not base it on the size of the file? Or am I doing this wrong? How would you handle this?

1. Open Ulead DVD MovieFactory 2;

2. Select the NEW PROJECT and SVCD options;

3. Click the NEXT button to advance to the next step;

4. Click the second button in the lower left corner of the interface;

5. After the PROJECT SETTINGS pop-up menu appears, you should see the default SVCD project settings - as follows:

MPEG files
24 Bits, 352 x 240, 29.97 fps
(Video CD-NTSC)
Video data rate: 1150 kbps
Audio data rate: 224 kbps
MPEG audio layer 2, 44.1 KHz, Stereo

6. Do these settings match the properties of your source video precisely?

7. If not, then adjust the settings to match by clicking the CHANGE MPEG SETTINGS button.
