  1. I've tried Nero 6 and Pinnacle Instant DVD (not on the system at the same time!) and Windows Movie Maker, all programs crash during the final burn process either to dvd or virtual drive at various % points. I've tried a program called EndItAll to close any programs that might have been running in the background, i've tried reg-cleaner and then re-installing. I've tried changing the performance settings as well ie. for best performance. It's starting to annoy me now.
    Thanks if you can help...

Is the burner on a RAID connection?

  3. No it's an ide cable, i've got it set as the master and a cd writer 'daisy-chained' as the slave on the same ide cable. Not exactly sure what raid is, apart from the fact it's a type of connection. I've heard it mentioned quite a bit, but it doesn't really mean anything to me.Thanks for your help...

Well, if the programs crash even when writing to a virtula drive, then I suspect it's more of a software problem than a hardware problem.

Uninstall all your burning software and then try them again.

  5. had a similar problem, turned out to be a conflict with another program installed. You'll have to remove progs in turn to find out which is causing the problem. I just formatted the h/d re loaded xp, nero & shrink, then each of my other progs in turn trying a burn each time.
