Seems to me that using a Pause function to edit out commercials is stepping backwards a few years. Why not just capture everything and then edit out the commericials. There's a number advantages to that- you don't have to sit there with your finger on a pause button waiting for the next commercial. You don't have to worrying about being 10 seconds late hitting pause when the commercial starts- or worse- being 10 seconds late starting again when the commercial is over.
Although now that I think of it- there is a video capture kit that allows you to Pause recordings- it's called a VCR. -
Thats a good idea bob.
Whats the best,easiest,quicker, joiner,splitter,tool around?....
the 1 i have.(ASF TOOLS3.1)..makes it more easier & worthwhile...to sit and pause the commercials. -
Virtualdub is easy and free for avi without recompressing.
Click the start frame the end frame and cut the selection. Do it as many times as needed then make sure that video and audio are both set to direct stream copy. Do a "save as" pick a file name and you will get a fully cut file within a very few minutes. It saves at hundreds of frames per sec. If you decide to use filters resize etc... then you would have to recompress in full processing mode but for simple cut and trim it's very fast. -
You have to set the cut points with virtualdub at keyframes or your going to get some parts not cut properly, best way to use virtualdub is to edit and cut all the parts without saving it and them frameserve it.
