  1. i have an avi file..
    never had to mess with an avi file so im a little confused here
    ive looked around at some guides and forums to figure out avi
    i just want to know if i can burn my avi file to dvd and it play on my dvd player? i tried opening it in my dvd burning program which is sonic my dvd and it says that i am trying to burn a pal version? and need to change my settings to that?
    should i convert my avi file to mpeg2 or ?
    ive tried opening it in tmpegnc but it says it cant support that kind of file
    so im quite confused on what step i do next with this avi file
    any help please

  2. I think you should check www.lordsmurf.com for descriptions of what avi files really are, when and when not to convert to mpeg2, PAL vs NTSC, etc.

    All useful information and not terribly time-consuming. If you're in the USA, I don't think you want PAL version.

    Go to the 'Tools' section to the left and download Avicodec or Gspot. These programs can identify what type of AVI file you have, whether it's PAL and things like framerate, size, etc. There a quite a few types of AVI's. If you have the proper codec you can convert it to MPG2 and burn it to DVD after processing and encoding.
