when i use dvdshrink i just have it burn the compressied video with nero through dvdshrink. would there be any difference if i just made the compressed files goto a folder then went into nero or nero express and burned the dvd video files? would they both play the same, or is there a difference?

No real difference. You can either ouput to a folder on your HD, a nero image file, or burn directly. I personally don't like burning with nero so I output to a folder, but burning the nero img file is the same as burning with nero. So for you there's no real difference
