For a while i've been useing the 1x/white top princo DVD-R media from www.allmediaoutlet.net/amo They are cheap and have worked fine for me as far as i know.But i read stories about bad media and some discs that stop working after 8-12 months.And the possibleity of buying a bad batch later on and burning 20+discs that have problems 5 months down the road is bothersome.
So i've been looking into other cheap affordable DVD-R media and heard ritek is good.I've even heard guys on techtv like leo say they only use ritek and its great.
But is it that much more reliable and worth useing over princo?
Also i'm planning on buying either an NEC-1300A or a LiteOn LDW-411S burner soon.Will they burn Riteks?

Almost anything is better than Princo. Ritek is an excellent low-cost disc.

Is there a price or quality difference between GO3 and GO4?
These discs here must be GO3 then since it looks like its only 1x/2x media: http://www.allmediaoutlet.net/amo/p_proddetail.php?kitNbr=279
Also what do you all think of allmediaoutlet? -

One of these days none of the DVDr's (princo, ritek etc....) are going to be working. Then you'll say "Damn I should've had them pressed".

Welll i'll be the pig in the poke! Yes Ritek are indeed very good, but personally having burnt hundreds of perfect Bulkpaq tangoes and Datawrite yellows (both 4x Princo Dye) which have played on anything and games consoles flawlessly its not fair to write them off (excuse the punn) when comparing price...50p as apposed to £1. Especially if your working to a tight budget. As they say..everyone to their own...suck it and see! Best advice is to buy a sample pack and judge for yourself.

Whatever you do, avoid Princo and Khypermedia. I've had very high failure rates with both (10% or so). So far my failure rate with Ritek is 0% - not a single failure in well over 500 burns. -
Star Warrior,
Currently, these 2 places that have good prices on Ritek media:
1. At www.Shop4Tech.com, 50-Pk Ritek 1x-2X is $47.50, and their 1x-4X 50-Pk Ritek is going for $52.50
2. At www.newegg.com, a 50-Pk 1x-4X Ritek is $48.99
I think both are offering free S&H on those mentioned products.
Cheers
P.S. About Princo, I never have problem with them using a combination of Nero 5.5 + Sony DW-10A. I do like them, but I think Ritek maybe will be better in the long run. Well, only the future can tell if my data burned on the Princo survived or not. -
approx 1500 burns-
ritek=100% success rate
princo=50% success rate
for the price difference its not worth it mate & the bad princo's
always seem to fail on the most important burns.princo's will
cost you more in the end & you'll probably lose your hair!! -
Is this a trick question??

I've burned 350-400 Princo's and not one coaster. Mostly 1x,but 4x lately.
I burn to their full capacity,4480MB's and never had a problem.
Burned with Pioneer 04 and 06,I wonder if the burner makes a difference? -
Maybe the burner makes the difference, like wulf109 says.
I burned many princo's with the pioneer A04 and never had a problem in every standalone and PS2. Also I burn with NERO 5.5.10.42 (not the favorite burning programme of most people on this forum) in neroexpress.
Since 3 months a own a pioneer A06 and also have no problems with princo. Burning at 4x speed (capacity 4472mb's). Test it on many standalone players (pioneer, sony, philips and the cheap ones) and no problems.
