    How do I play AVIs in Quicktime 6? I tried and it said that it couldn't find a plugin to play the format.

    use something else (its not a great player anyway), try media player classic


    also -- make sure you have the right codec installled..

    I agree, use media player classic, install the needed codecs, and set AVI's and MPEG's to open in mpc. That little 0.98 megabyte player does wonders for me, its amazing how good open source software really is.
    Quicktime is buggy, bloated and full of spyware anyway.
