:P Sorry for my poor English.
I met a "Could not perform a end of disc at once" error, so i come here
to read some topics. I saw there are many ways to solve this problem just as:
1.clean recording softwares on your system and reinstall only nero.
2.update your recorder's firmware
3.clean up your of memory or defrag your harddrive.
4.try other medias.
5.compress your files to make less small files.
6.get your record speed lower.
but which should I follow?
I use Cyberstore DVD-R 4x media on a SONY dru-500ax with 2.0h firmware, I met this error many times but the data on disc seems to
be fine, I can read them out on other DVD-ROMs(like Samsung SM348),
but it's just "seems to be fine", because I cound not check every file on the disc. so who can tell me is my data all fine or part of them is bad?
if I really made some files bad, how can I solve this problem next time I record?
ps. the error always occur after a 100% record process.
could you tell what does "Lead-out" mean? Is it important?

Follow another simple question:
As a 700M CD-R, it's proper record size is about 680MB, then what's the proper record size of a 4.7GB DVD-R? I often get a "not enough space" error when I record over 4400MB, is it normal? -
Johnny,
a DVD-R disc capacity is app 4.35gig.
In your previous message you didnt say what software program you are using for your burning.? Need more info.
The LEAD IN and LEAD OUT are important YES.
They are like the Entry and Exit for the data for the hardware player to know where is the beginning of the data and the end.
Also what is it you are trying to burn? are you trying to just burn DATA or copy DVD etc?
cliff.

Thanks for your reply.
I use nero 6.3 on WinXP SP1.I have 512M rambus and 2 seagate B-IV 80G(raid-0),p4-1.7G.
I just record some data hundreds or thusands of files, not DVD or VCD.
"Could not perform a end of disc at once" error occur when Leading-out So are these files all fine or some of them are corrupt? -
I know why.
It's called overhead. Overhead is the space taken up with the File tables that keep track of what is where on your disk. A DVDR with 3 files on it has virtually no overhead. A DVDR with say 10,000 pictures may have 100's of MB's of overhead.
Solution: If you are burning 1000+ files, leave space for the allocation tables. Try burning 4 GB of data instead of 4.4 GB of data (which won't fit).
When I would burn a CDR with 10,000 files, I would have to leave 100+ MB just for the allocation tables. Nero will not estimate overhead for you. It's very bad about this. The graph shows you have enough room, and it works for video, but not for a lot of bulk data files. It's a problem if you put 1000 MP3's on a disk.....To Be, Or, Not To Be, That, Is The Gazorgan Plan -
Thanks. I think I know what I should do next time I use nero.
Can you recommend me another software that counts the "overhead" for data files?
But I still dono whether the DVD-Rs I recorded before good or bad..... -
Well done gazorgan, see theres always someone on here that knows more than the other guy. I didnt know all the particulars of the overheads so didnt even try to explain it. I still learn something new every day.
JohnnyZ havent heard of Cyberstore dvdr's. Just try what gazorgan said with the discs you have. If they are no good then try Ritek's.
