how can i repair hissing noises in movies?

can anyone tell me the best way to clean up noise on avi files hissing, tinny sound etc , id be much appreciated if someone could?

You could load the video into Gold Wave and select
Effects-->Filter-->Noise Reduction-->Preset Shapes-->Hiss Removal.
