Since it's kind of common knowledge that DVDShrink is working on Recode now... I had a question that I'm hoping someone would be able to answer.
DVDShrink has been updated several times in the last month or two, with bug fixes and preformance enhancements. Recode 2 hasn't been updated that much at all.
So if Mr. Shrink is working on both, is it save to say that the recent bugs that have been fixed in DVDShrink, are still present in Recode 2?
I love using DVDShrink, I also really like the Recode interface and the couple of extra features that Shrink doesn't have, but if Recode still has all of the bugs that have been fixed in Shrink, then I'll just keep using Shrink.
Hope that made sence... Thanks.

I use Recode all the time,no bugs, works everytime. The new DVD Shrink 3.1 is bug ridden,no version has run properly for me.
Recode benefits from Ahead's programming team,Shrink does not.
DVD Shrink 3.0B5 is a good stable program and since 3.1 offers nothing but cosmetic changes it's not worth using. -
I wasn't too concerned about the cosmetic changes in the new version of Shrink. The main thing that I like is that the newest version, 3.1.4, had performance changes that made it quite a bit faster than 3.1.3. For me anyway. So now Shrink is faster, on my pc, than Recode.
I just thought that it was odd that if the same guy is working on the programming of both, that only one is being updated all the time. It can't be because Nero doesn't want to put out updates that often because Burning Rom, before 6.3.0.2, was being updated like every week or two. -

We all know that Nero is the worst DVD burning programme on the face of the planet. Is Recode seperate enough not to have the same jinx-ridden code that Ahead normally insert into their software? I like the ideas behind Recode, but don't trust anything from the Ahead stable with regards to DVDR. To that regard, DVD Shrink is a seperate entity, and it does actually work. -

Lacy,
I hate to break it to you but on this board you will discover Nero to be much-maligned for its DVD capabilities - or rather its lack thereof. We are talking SPECIFICALLY about video DVD's.
EZ Coaster Creator is not the answer. There are a dozen other programs to use to burn video DVD's... several of them free.

energy80s - Yes Recode is different from the normal Nero Burning Rom. Recode uses a lot of the same code as DVDshrink. In fact, the rumer is that they are written by the same person.

I have no problems burning DVDs.
I even use NeroVision Express ... once in awhile ... for whipping up some quick adult movies.
Since the quality of some X-Rated movies are lousy to begin with ... why bother using a DVD Disk ... when a CDR disk will do just fine ... 70 min movies ... I'm talking about. -
Nero is great for VCD's but totally sucks donkeys for DVD's! That's why I wouldn't even contemplate using anything connected with Ahead Nero for DVDR. Nero Recode is supposed to be created by "Dr. Shrink" but what would worry me is the amount of Nero code in the application. DVD Shrink might have some flaws, but at least I know it works (and works well). Recode still has me worried (maybe if it had been released by Sonic - the new owners of RecordNow Max - I would have more faith in it).

Yes ... I've used the slideshow feature in Nero Recode 2 ... also. There was a few extras I didn't want to zap completely. -

i agree, i've used nero to burn every dvdr i have and they have all worked. i mean, i use dvd shrink to prepare the actual dvd files, but always use nero to burn. -
i use shrink with roxio 6... not one coaster yet (well, except for back when I didn't know what I was doing, but that wasn't the software's fault).
And roxio came with my system, so I feel no need to change.
