  1. I used Nero 6 to burn a DVD-RW using the DVD Video template. The source was a set of files from the original VIDEO_TS folder. The original worked fine on my PC but I want to view on my standalone DVD player and home theatre sys. The video was fine but I got no sound. Is there any method to accomplish this? Can someone explain why I lost the sound in the process? I have TMPGEne and other tools but would like to avoid the time consuming process of converting and demultiplexing and then burning.

I've had exactly the same problem,
encoding a dvd with nero Express2 , check the authored VOB's on powerdvd on my pc, & its fine.

burnt them with nero 6 - fine with NO SOUND (now this is a bit random as some work fine ive done about 10-15 dvds & so far 4 of them have been like this & not all recently..so its pretty danm random)
I thought it might be nero6 so tried burn at once to burn, the VOB's again no sound.
is nero messing something up when authoring & if so why does it play fine on software DVD player but not the 3 standalone players i tried....grrr these casters are expensive!!

  4. the sound file you're using might not be dvd compliant.

load the files into gspot and see what type of audio you are using.
make sure it's pcm or ac3.

if it's not, then demux the audio using virtualdub and convert it to ac3 using
    ffmpeggui

I just thought, it cant be that as i use a MP3 for audio on the menu's

on the ones where there is no sound, the menu has no sound also.
on the ones where sound works , the Menu music works too.

as its a MP3 thats encoded by NeroVision 2 (along with the AVI's nerovision 2 encode)
im presuming its possibly to do with the encoding...but then i dont get why it wont play with audio on stand alone players (i've tried 3 different ones so far)
im gonna try another authoring software (TMPGEnc & TMPG authour sticks momenteraly on dark screens on some dvd players i use so still looking for a good one)

might have a answer...all the ones that play without sound have been coded in NTSC , the ones that work PAL
(the ones without sound have it when played on a ps2, but B&W as a pal PS2) , as im in england, i try to do em in PAL , but these times it gave a warning that theres more NTSC than PAL on the disc &i should switch to pal, im gonna try saying no & see if this fixes it. all u NTSC guys, u might weanna try it the other way round maybe itll help.

solved it. if your encoding with nervision express2 ( & it asks you mid way through set up that theres more pal than ntc or vica versaDONT CHANGE by saying ok ignore it, & everything works fine, this change mid way thru is causing the problem.
this is only a problem on some players & not others tho...
But just say no & itll all be ok.
    Hope that helps.
