A friend of mine had a flick he told me I'd like, so he hands me the DVD (data DVD) of it and some other stuff, I open the folder with the movie I want and.....There's a ZILLION other files in there, not VOB's or anything like that, it looks like this:

of course in numerical order, he's out of town, but what the heck have I stumbled into? Are these pieces that I can put together? On my Mac or is this a PC thing?
Why can't everyone just encode in MPEG2 with DVD standards?
