  1. My cousin is giving me a copy of this because he can't figure out how to use it. I've never messed with it myself and I'm wondering what opinions of it are. Its got good reviews from what I can see. If its any good I want to use it for some DVD authoring, capture from firewire (ADVC-100) and editing, hopefully some transition effect if thats supported? The pricetag definitely seems to mark it as a higher end software, but with Ulead its hard to tell. Not too fond of Movie Factory 2.

    Opinions would be appreciated.

  2. Media Studio7 can capture/edit/render just about anything you would want. Its a powerful higher-end editing package. Check it out in the tools section on the left of this site. Its not really for Authoring but rather creating video files. It does come bundled with Moviefactory2 so you can Author to DVD.

MF2 is a bottom end bit of software, you only have to look at the price to see that. DVD Workshop costs about 3 times the price and is the real thing. I have been using Mediastudio Pro since I first started with video about 5 years ago. I've been through versions 5, 5.2, 6 and now use 6.5. So far I've found nothing that I've wanted to do that it can't.

I'll admit it is a bit mind blowing at first, but spend some time with the manual and you'll get the hang of it quite quickly.
