First I wasn't sure where to post this question so here I am (unless given a suggestion).

I have read long and hard to find various ways to burn a couple of svcd's to a dvd. Just finished from what I've learned and it plays right off the bat in my stand alone dvd player.

However there is artifacting going on and I wanted to get some opinions on what the most likely cause(s) would be. I might add that I burned to a memorex dvd+r 4x (burned at lowest possible speed that nero allowed which was 2.4x).

Any help or suggestions would be appreciated.

  2. If it's on your source, problem solved. Well, in that there's not a lot you can do about it apart from maybe re-encoding it with a bit of softening which might make it less visible.

Otherwise I would say it's a media problem, and your standalone is having trouble reading your choice of discs. If it's not the media but looks disc related, make sure the player is happy with the SVCD resolution if you haven't re-encoded it, and that the audio is 48Khz not 44.1Khz. Some players don't care about this, but if it's truly compliant it will throw a strop if you're not using valid resolutions and sample rates.

I should give a bit more information about the process I used.

1.) Used vcdgear v3.55 to rip out the mpg's from the svcd bin/cue images.
2.) Used TMPGEnc Plus v2.5 to merge the mpg's into one file.
3.) Used TMPGEnc Plus v2.5 to Simple De-multiplex the merged mpg file.
4.) Renamed the .mp2 files to .mpa
5.) Used DVDPatcher v1.05B to change the horizontal size of the mpg file from 480 (SVCD) to 352 (DVD).
6.) Used BeSweet GUI v0.7b2 and BeSweet v1.5b25 to re-encode the mpa file from 44KHz to 48KHz, along with setting SSRC bitrate of 224
7.) Used DVD-lab v1.3 to make simple root menu to start the 2 movies i was putting on the DVD. Then compiled DVD.
8.) Finally used Nero v6.0.0.10 to burn the DVD.

    Burner: LG GSA-4040B
    Player: Sony DVPNS725P

    Thanks
