  1. recently bought what i thought was a pinnacle pc/tv capture card, Which turned out to be a pinnacle pc/tv rave card.

When i go to the capture settings tab all the options ( vcd, svcd, dvd) are all greyed out.

I have posted on pinnacles (laughingly called) support site with absolutely no response

so i was wondering can i use any other capture program with this card, As i bought it on the understanding that it would capture in mpeg1 and mpeg2 formats.

If that is possible would someone be kind enough to point me in the direction of a good program .

Price is not that important as the main reason for me trying this at the mo is to put hi8 video onto vcd or dvd for a family member.....
No program is idiot proof! I can prove it :-)

  2. Ok scrap that i took the pinnacle back to the shop (since nobody here was answering me anyway :P )

Got a diffrent capture card now. Just another cheap one(v-stream xpert pvr) untill i get the hang of this then will most likely invest in better card.

here is the question i now have:
Can anyone tell me the best settings for this card so that i can capture in mpeg2 or 1 (birates ect .) I have included an image in this post so you can see what i need.....

I hope someone is good enough to answer this post

Know nothing about your card but for 1 hr cap. you should be able to use 6000mb/s vid bitrate and use different audio (not a techie-?mp2, layer2 48mhz 224bit

Your screen paste also indicates audio cap through sound card. IMHO this method is prone to sync problems. Althrough it may work for you, that is my experience and I will NOT purchase another cap device that uses this setup

The best way to corect audio sync is to cap in sync to start.
