  1. So I'm getting closer...this is where I am so far.

I ripped chapter by chapter VOBs using OSex segmenting by chapter, going to program streams. It produced a series of chapter only VOBs, that I then tried once using toast to burn as a DVD.

I put those into a Video_ts folder, then added an empty audio ts folder. Then I labeled the vobs as different titles and it worked great as a test, playing back perfectly on my philips dvd settop. (with two vobs from different films)

Then I tried doing it for about 3 GB worth (ten titles), and toast will never finish the job! I am using sony dvd-rw media, and a 1.25 Ghz Superdrive mac with the pioneer drive... is this a hardware problem? OR is there something else going on with burning so much?

I also have dvd2one, and wanted to take those vobs and put them all on one dvd worth...how do I do that? (it's about 8gb I want to fit) Is that possible?

I also have sizzle, should I use that for anything?

For toat I have 790 mb ram running panther 10.3.1. I also have enough diskspace (30gb) so i'm confused.

    please help...thanks

you are saying you just put .vob's in a video_ts folder and they play!!!!!!!

you cant do it that way
you have to extract as DVD FOLDER under fmt
this produces a VIDEO_TS folder that is dvd spec
if its under 4.4 gigs it can be burnt
if its not it must be dvd2one'd

    make since

yes. use sizzle to add each vob as a seperate input chapter file. Sizzle will then generate the necessary dvd file structure (ifo files, vector files, etc). Sizzle will make a video_ts folder that you can burn to a dvd. I'm surprised that your were able to just add vobs to a empty video_ts folder and have them play on a set-top dvd player. I've never heard of any dvd player being able to do that. Putting the vobs in the folder like that is a violation of the dvd standard and should have not played on your dvd player.

    I agree!

yet if you are doing each chapter, why not just use OSeX as a DVD FOLDER export

    saves you hastle of sizzle

plus if its over 4.4 gigs so will sizzles output and you accomplish nothing!

  5. Yes, i thought it was too basic, but it did work, although only now i'm realizing for two titles!

when i try to do more than two titles it only plays the first two.

So i'll dump them into sizzle, but then if its over 4.4 i use dvd2 one x, yes?

What in film mode? not clear.

  6. Also, if i extract as dvd folder from osex, how would i be able to combine chapters from different movies?

ok now that's a differnet story
in a world where dropping .vob's to a folder and burnign doesnt work you would

    1. extract the .vobs from the dvd's using OSeX
    2. you would then import these .vob's to Sizzle to compile a new single dvd image which you would then burn

SOMETHING has to make the VIDEO_TS folder, you cant just make a new folder, add .vob's and burn it and expect it to work

NOTE: some dvd players can play that type of folder. For instance, my dvd player will do play this type of dvd, however it will show up as a folder menu on my screen. I see the VIDEO_TS fodler, select it, and it lists the .vob's in the fodler much liek your comptuer does when you explore the dvd contents
i choose the .vob and boom it starts playing.
when its done, it goes back to the folder view and I choose the next .vob
    this is not a dvd!

    make since?!

  8. Yes exactly, that's what my dvd did...so now I want to take this home and make a real sizzle dvd...

is there a good tutorial around?

Am I right to add a button on the toc level that goes to all the menus (i have no chapters on the dvd)

then on the title parts add buttons that go to beginning of chapter 1....

i think i did that and it didn't work too good .

yea sizzle is a little interesting in this aspect
TOC is the top menu level
from there you get acces to sub menu's (the menu for each title you add)

    for example
TOC menu button brings you to
Title Menu whos buttons accesses the actual video

so you have 2 menu's instead of one. its much like a episodal dvd.

there's a tutorial on how it works on my website (cant believe you have not been there!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!)

VCD/SVCD to DVD is what has the tutorial

just keep in mind yours is a .vob and you can import it directly. So overlook the parts about .m2v and .mp2 because your .vob will import directly and have audio associated.

if you have questions let me know
I suggest trying just 1 .vob and making a image from that to test so you can see if your method of button creation works. hate to import all the .vob's and make a 4.4. image and have it not work!

dvd player can play the mounted image with no probs

agian, if you get stuck post here.
    cheers
