Alright I have a problem. I did a quick search but didn't pick up an information from it that would help me.
I am trying to back up my Godfather Trilogy. As the movies are very long, I opted to avoid my normal method (using Shrink) and try the DVD2SVCD method.
I followed all the guides and configured DVD2SVCD properly. I set up all the program associations to use CCE and Sonic Scenarist 2.7. I let the program do its job and 22 hours later it was about ready to finish.
As it was trying to create the DVD image, I got a "Layout Failed" error message in Sonic Scenarist. It also gave a number of errors about the sub picture being across the scene boundaries in many places. According to various forums, this should not cause any problems. The main issue I had was during the image creation. I got the following messages:
"Error Total sector size <2294971> is larger than DVD disc capacity <2294912>
Error CheckFileSystem error returned.
Error Disc image could not be created."
Please correct me if I am wrong, but apparently the output size was not done properly somewhere in the process. The program did output an AUDIO_TS folder and a VIDEO_TS folder. In viewing them with shrink, it appears the files were 4481MB as opposed to the needed 4464MB.
My questions are as follows:
1) Even though no image was created, should those files be able to be shrunk to the proper size and burned properly, or do you think the files are bad? All vobs, bups, and ifos seem to be there.
2) If shrunk, would it defeat the whole reason I used the DVD2SVCD method? I wanted to avoid shrink so I could maintain excellent quality on such a large movie. My guess is no, but I just wanted to ask.
3) What setting do I need to change in DVD2SVCD or the other programs it is using to prevent this from happening again?
Thank you guys in advance for any answers or input you can give.

Try loading them into scenarist if you know how and manually doing it. If it still rejects then try DVDMaestro.
Also as a suggestion sometimes DVD2SVCD will over size, so knock about 50 - 100 mb off the total disc size in it.
Change the max bit rate DOWN to about 7500 from 9000, change the average down a little also.
