  1. Hello I am having real problems with these ritek G04 discs, everyone says they are supposed to be one of the best but im not too sure on that
Previously to using these i used princo 4x discs and they all burned fine except for maybe a few coasters out of several hundred discs burned, but as soon as i got the ritek g04 discs i noticed that if i burned at 4x the discs just wont play at all and i notice on the write side of the disc after i burn there are little spots that look like the dye might have ran or something.
I have ordered the riteks from 3 different companies, Meritline, SupermediaStore and ACCA and i dont know if this makes a difference but the numbers written on the inside of the disc on the ones from meritline and supermedia start of J3-10L and so on
but the ones from acca start off H1-2L I dont know if that makes any difference but just thought i would add that in there
I am using a pioneer dvr-105 well its the cendyne one but its recognized as a pioneer.
These all came in the ritek ridata plastic wrap and are silver and purple and have ridata written in the inside of the disc. I dont know if it might be my burner or bad batches from all 3 companies. I just burned one of the ones from ACCA and there is still a dark spot on the disc.
Any help on this will be greatly appreciated
I have had my burner for about a year now i dont know how long they are supposed to last so im thinking it might be that, but i could be wrong
    Thank You Very Much

  2. I have the same cendyne burner and have been using the same discs. However, mine are from Rima, but they had the same packaging that you spoke of. I haven't had any problems to speak of. I haven't burned one coaster in several hundred attempts. Since you bought them from several different companies, it's probably not the media. You may want to try a different burning process, or upgrading your firmware. I'm using a hacked 1.30 firmware and Nero Express to burn after using multiple apps to create the DVDs. Do you get the spots on all three types of discs? That is very unusual on Riteks.

Probably a sub-standard DVD-RW drive is the problem. Or it could possibly just be a bad batch(s). I've gone through over 150 Ritek G04's, all from SuperMediaStore.com, and none have ever failed me using a REAL Pioneer DVR-105.

  4. So far, I've lost two out of the four printable G04s that I've attempted to burn. I've noticed the same dye splotchiness that PumaGemini mentioned. I used Nero's Recode 2.0.0.7 with my Lite-On 411S (FS0G) burner at 4X speed.

The first burn I made was on Fear which was a DVD-5, so no transcoding was needed (used DVD Decrypter 3.1.9.0 for ripping & burning). The next two I attempted to burn was wasted on Monster's Ball. I removed (replaced) the extras to get it to fit on the DVD-R & the transcode went well. However, when I tried to burn the resulting DVD files, I burned two G04 coasters, but was able to burn the same files to a G03!?!? Since I wanted to use a G04 with my Epson R300 for labeling purposes, I ended up using CloneDVD to just rip & burn the main movie & everything burned fine (with another G04).

So, part of me thinks Recode is the problem, but then why did the G03 burn successfully? It looks like there is a new version of DVD Shrink out along with some new 411S firmware, so I'm going to check those out before proceeding with any new G04 burns.

Anyone else with G04 problems? Bought minde from Supermediastore, btw.

    Thanks,

  5. All right thanks for the replies so far, as for all three having the same spots thats a yes, but i dont know if its making them skip though
the player i am using is an apex 660 and on certain discs it skips at the same spots and as for the software im using i use dvd shrink and then burn the files with nero 6 ive read that i should use imgtool to turn the files into an image file but i havent been able to find one that will work
and for extra large movies i use instant copy and just either convert the pdi to iso and burn with dvd decrypter or just burn the pdi with dvd decrypter also say after i burn about 3 discs at 4x i bet an error and it wont let me burn at 4x after that im sure thats the drives fault maybe dusty lense or maybe just old.
What burner would you recommend i get next since i think this one is about to go out i was looking at the pioneer 106 but it only got 3 out of 5
and now they got 8x burners but i am not sure if they got 8x dvd-r ive seen +r
also is there a better program i could be using for dvd to dvd-r
besides dvd shrink (i am using 3.0 beta 5 by the way) and instant copy
One more thing should i get a firmware for the drive i mean i got it jan 03 so there is probably something out there for it
    Thanks for your responses

  6. I recently bought a batch of ritek G04 4x dvd-r's from rima.com. I heard they were the best but after trying a bunch of them i realized they aren't. I got a few coasters, but mostly they would burn fine but didn't play properly in my older JVC dvd player. They had skips and visual errors toward the end of movies. After some research, (https://www.videohelp.com/forum/viewtopic.php?p=739797&highlight=sydemon&sid=1c7414c5ed9...d09e8bb56f9ec0), i found others were having similar problems and found out that ritek has grade A, B, and C media. I most likely got the grade B or C media, so i returned them to rima.com and ordered some optodisc. You might have gotten some of these grade B or C media. Basically i won't be buying ritek any time soon. Hope this helps.
