tompika,
Which one is better, BenQ or Nu-Tech? Are there any +RW &-RW dual format burners would change the booktype to DVD-ROM?
Thanks,

The dual format Nec1300 can bitset too with a hacked firmware

The NuTec is a plus only drive at the moment but will be a multiformat drive with a firmware update. It will be able to bitset on both plus and minus medias!

Lite-On 811s also with newest (not hacked) firmware.
straight out of the box, without firmware flash/update?
In the particular case of the 811s, it also allows changing the booktype. -

The HP400i lets you change the booktype without a firmware flash. -
Thank you all.
I guess I settle for HP 400i, since it is 8X &it changes the booktype to DVD-ROM by default. -

I think I'm right that it was not claimed by 'some NuTec tech' but Nic.
Well even if it's not compliant with the -R spec it may come in handy in some cases.
And yes I would call it a kinda bitsetting since I have no other word for it.

For DVD-R/-RW media, this Format code returns the last updated Physical format information. Therefore, for example, if a medium is recorded with multi-bordered area, this information is retrieved from the last Border-in

Is this a Multi-border disk? If so, I don't see the point since most DVD players cannot play a Multi-border DVD-R disk. It might be possible on a DVD-RW disk since the end session on the previous border is overwritten.
