sony dru-500a is showing up as a cd drive???

Im using Windows XP....just recently upgraded my pc to a P4 3gig processor...1 gig of ram.

My Sony DRU-500A will not read a dvd burned with data such as mp3's, pics,etc. And when I go to my computer...under the name of the drive it says DVD-RW Drive...but under type it says CD Drive.

I upgraded to the latest firmware...which I believe is G dating back to October. Does anyone have a clue how I get this back to reading dvds? Pleeeease help! Even with movies now it seems to not open them or it will open them but it will be in folder form.

I also use Nero 6 if that has anything to do with it.

Please HELP!

Nero+sony 500a =bad combination ,the reason I say this is because for some reason these 2 dont get along....

well the thing is it has worked before on my other system...and I have had this same issue on my other system...just cant remember what I did to fix it. ARRRRRGH! Why dont I write things down!!! I cant remember if Nero had anything to do with it or not. I dont see why it would unless it overwrites a file or something...somebody please helllp!

DID YOU APPLY EITHER THE NERO or THE ADAPTEC ASPI UPDATE?

I used a file called aspi_471a2.exe from the ADAPTEC WEBSITE
