Why does the .avi file size differ so greatly?
dvddcryptor to dvd2avi to vfapi to virtualdub = avi file 180 meg
take that avi file with wav into premier, export to avi = 1,200 meg
using ms mpeg4 2 codec each time.
no quality difference.
any help appreciated, if wrong forum please redirect me
thanks

Could be because of the wav audio. What type of audio is in the 1.2 GB file? If it's wav (lpcm) then that's why, because wav audio is uncompressed. Try some type of audio compression to make it smaller.Originally Posted by flander1"Art is making something out of nothing and selling it." - Frank Zappa
