  1. I recently bought a Pioneer 106 dvd writer and have Nero start smart along with nero express. I have recently tried to burn a avi file and after 8 or 9 hours of transcoding streams it said that it was unable to burn the process. I then had sone mpeg files and tried to burn them and after a while transcoding menus and screens it burnt - it stated that burn was complete and I put the dvd in the player and nothing would play at all. I recently added the dvd codecs for nero and when I make the menus etc, when you go to review the picture there are a couple of vertical lines and between these lines there is colour distortion. Once the burning process starts it says that it cannot do this as with mepeg files it says that it is not supported in nero.

someone please help - I am struggling so much and all I wanna do is burn make a dvd

    best wishes and many thanks

Go to your profile and fill out your computer specs. That will give the knowledgable here some clues to possible problems.

Few here use Nero for anything but the burning aspect of Creating a DVD. This is a multi step process.
    1.Capture
    2.Edit/Encode
    3.Author DVD
    4.Burn disk

Nero 6 which includes Nero Vision Express can capture, encode, author and burn DVD's. Setting the parameters wrong at any step may affect the ability of the program to spit out the DVD you are hoping for.

    1. Start with a small project or a small piece of the video you want to convert.

    2. Diagnose where the problems are coming into the project. This is difficult with out experience. Read the tutorials about Capturing. Get a grip on the basic process and try the recomended settings. Nero includes its own tutorials and can be found at the Ahead website.

    3. When you do start the Burning DVD step, use a RW disk till you know the process is correct.
