  1. Whenever I convert a divx to mpeg with tmpeg, itīs jerky. Picture, sound, everything is great except that itīs jerky.
It sort of stops for a fraction of a second every other second. Sometimes itīs barely noticeable but in scenes with pans, tilts and lots of motion itīs very apparent and annoying. But itīs only with DivX.
I have tried different versions of tmpeg and I have tried it on different computers and it doesnīt matter if itīs vcd or svcd.
Is it like this for everyone?

Jerkiness encoding with TMPGEnc has often been the cause of using the wrong field order ("settings"-->"advanced"-->"field order" ). Try changing the field order that you usually use.

  3. It doesn't sound much like a field order problem if it's happening with both VCD and SVCD, nor if it's just every other second.

Are you encoding at exactly the same frame rate as the original? This could be a framerate decimation problem.

You might also open one of the mpeg-1 files with VirtualDub and step through the frames to identify the spots where it hesitates. How many frames are there between each stutter? How many frames does each stutter last?

  4. under DC component precision, change it to 10bits...itll probably encode alto slower, but the smoothness is there
