    whats you'll anyways i need help in getting my vcd movices play smoothly. i can make a vcd nice but when i play the finish product its not smooth as when i encoded it to vcd format mpeg. can anyone help me. i use tmpgenc using the pal or ntsc script.

  2. Well not sure what you mean by 'smoothly,' if you mean the the screen jobs there are few things you can try, undersettings:

    1) Set motion search accuracy to high (or if you've got the time highest)

    2) Instead of making a standard VCD make an xVCD. Use 2-pass VBR instead of CBR. Two choices you can set min=0, ave=1150, max = 1150 (this will give you 1min=10MB like any VCD) or you can use one of the bitrate calculators to increase the bitrate for better picture.
    In a way this depends on your source. If like to use min=0, ave=2000, max=2500, but then you can only get ~44min on a 80min CDR.

    3) Click on the GOP tab and turn OFF 'detect scene changes.'

    Also note that if you have a poor source (eg. realmedia) the quaility won't be any better and could be worst. Hope this helps.
