I'm also buying a new computer and have decided to buy a ATI Radeon card. I haven't been able to select that should I buy ATI Radeon 64MB DDR AGP VIVO or ATI Radeon All-In-Wonder 32MB DDR AGP. Is there anything else different between the cards except that AIW has integrated tuner and VIVO has 32MB more memory?

Is there any differences in VideoIn quality (I'm going to input the picture from SVHS video and I don't need the tuner) or is the picture quality exactly the same? Does anyone know?

    BTW: VIVO means VideoIn/VideoOut

  6. Hi nfl2k2, I am using AIW 32MB DDR that cames with both S-Video and standard Video inputs. The S-Video capture of my Hi8 tape are much better then the Yellow cable.

  7. thanks... the cards are the same in that they both use the same capture chip... the VIVO has a composite in which should be fine for getting scart in? (i think, quality is good yes or no?)

what i want to know is does the 64mb and the DDR and the mhz etc had any bearing on the ability to capture mpeg or is it just of use to the 3d gaming aspect

i think i will go for this card anyway as it is by far the cheapest option

there will be no more ati VIVO cards (boo) as they want you to buy the 8500DV which will cost a lot of money ($500)

    oh well

  8. If you want the best card on the market go with the Radeon 8500. In pre release reviews it beat the Geforce3 Ti500. And you can get the Radeon 8500 for about 240 dollars. If you really dont want to spend that much money, go with the Radeon 7500 (instead of Radeon VIVO), they are real similar cards but the 7500 has the newer technology.

What sucks is that i spent 280 for a Gainward Geforce3, then a week later the Radeon 8500 comes out, which is a better card, and its cheaper.

If you want an AIW card, id say wait for the Radeon 8500DV
