I tried doing a forum search to answer my questions but it's hard constructing a solution from 77 relevant bits and pieces.
My questions are simple:
If I cut videos on fcp, can I use Toast 6.0 to burn a DVD?
Or would I have to export my video from fcp as a Quicktime movie?
Toast can apparently burn a DVD longer than one hour,
but can it handle a video that's 2.5 hours long?
Would it look absolutely terrible?
Thank you for any two cents.

I'm not exactly sure how Toast encodes Quicktime files, but my guess is that they might look bad. It depends on what you're going for. If you need to produce professional results that you are under contract for, I wouldn't do it, but if its just to backup some footage that you're not planning on giving people, go for it.
Otherwise I'd reccommend using Apple's Compressor or Bitvice, and then using DVD2One to shrink it to one dvdr. That's what I do for all projects that exceed 2 hours 10 minutes or so. The compression is done frame by frame, and is much better quality--you can use it and get professional results. -
Thanks Travtufts.
What is Apple's Compressor and Bitvice? I didn't realize Apple had a compressor. Are these both software programs you're referring to?
