  1. I've tried TMPGEnc and it could not convert the audio. Tried Virtualdub and file indicated a "tag 2000". Tried Headache which indicated "data chunks" not found. Tried Avitowav which produce a file I do not need. I've downloaded and tried so much stuff I though I should stop and ask. I understand Virtualdub will not do it but will produce an AC3 file which is useless in TMPGEnc. I need to end up with an mpg file and simply do not know how to do it. Any help would be GREATLY appreciated

So? What did avi2wav give you then? A bitmap?
One simple way of getting the audio is to use GoldWave. Just load the AVI and Save WAV. Done.
Now use this wav as audio source, and the AVI as video source when encoding in TMPGEnc.

  3. Sheesh. I haven't even tried it. I kept looking for an mpg file to use and never tried the wav. Hum...so why is it that everytime I use virtualdub to convert avi files it produces mpg files??? Am I sadly mistaken again? Thanks for input.

    VirtualDub doesn't produce mpg's!?! - TMPGEnc does.
What is your source format (audio and video codec - use GSpot to tell) and what are you aiming for?

  5. I think I'm getting dumber by the minute. My pc is at home and right now I'm at work so I don't have the details but I dont' use GSPOT but another program which is very similar and works well. However you've answered my question. Hope I can return the favor. Kudos Mats.
