With Studio AV/DV capture card which setting is better?

ok this card supports realtime capture to MPEG2 through the hardware and I can capture to that at the highest rez with no lost frames. Is it better to capture to uncompressed YUV2 AVI or capture to MPEG2 dvd quality? Thx

It all depends what you want to do and what quality you want.

If you want to edit the captures, capture to avi 1st. Edit the avi, then convert to mpeg.

If you simply want to capture and burn, and the HW mpeg encoder is good enough for you, use it.

ok next question. How do I get studio 8 to allow me to use other codecs other than the pinnacle certified ones? It never allows me to check "list all codecs"
