  1. I have a few questions about using Nero 6 Ultra that I haven't been able to find in the guides.

    1. I have an ATI TV Wonder VE capture card. I can capture the video off my VCR at DVD-quality MPEG2. Is there any way I can skip the transcoding process when burning a DVD, since the video is already in DVD-compliant format; yet still add menus generated in NeroVision Express?

    2. I've captured a couple of 45-minute videos, but they are each around 2.5 gigs each, which exceeds the 4.7 gig limit, while still being under the 120 minute limit. Will I be able to burn this? Do I have to overburn or use recode to shrink it?

    3. Why is NeroVision Express' time always incorrect when I try to set chapter points?

  2. 1) The MPEG2 files must still be authored if you want the resulting disc to be DVD-Compliant. Unles you have one of those rare machinesthat can read MPEG2 files directly.

    2) Size of the files, not length is the determining factor on what will fit and what will not. Either re-encode with a smaller bitrate or use a transcoder to shrink the files down to the appropriate size.

At this time, it seems that NVE2 wants to transcode ALL files (including MPEG2 files which have already been transcoded). So there is no way to skip this at the moment.

FYI: I have written to Ahead asking them to remove transcoding of MPEG2 files. Suggest that you do the same. The more feedback they get on this, the faster they will fix it.
