    Ive read the guides but im a total nice but dim newbie.

    I wanna back up a dvd.

    The software i have is:

    nero 6
    alcohol 120%
    clone dvd

    i believe the dvd is about 7gb, i know it wont fit on a dvdr.

    im not bothered about menu's etc at the present (i'll learn that later)

    can anyone help?

    I would suggest getting DVD Shrink it's free, it will rip and transcode to the correct size without much of a brain needed on your part. Just follow the guides under the link above. Then you can use Nero 6 to burn.

    Follow Whompus' DVD9 shrink guide at http://www.polarhome.com/~afonic/shrinksplit.htm

    This will make 2 DVDs with no compression used and therefore no quality loss.

    Alternatively, you may also choose to deselect certain audio options, subtitles, menus, etc within DVDShrink in order to get it on one DVD with less required compression. There are many guides here to accomplish that but the program is self-explanatory in that regard.

    You say "Only the Movie" and then you said "The Whole DVD".

    DVDShrink (which is free) can do either one. Assuming you can read english , follow the guides and your done. It's pretty intuitive, but it can do things most people hadn't thought of.

    Ok, you are a NOOB, huh. save them to a place you now how to find on your hard drive. then double click them to install.
