  1. I've created some DVD compliant MPEG-2 files using Ulead VideoStudio 6. I can burn a DVD with these files using Ulead MovieFactory 2, but not with Sonic MyDVD. The Sonic software transcodes the audio and churns away for about three hours, then comes up with the message, "File is not a valid MPEG." Here are the specs of my files:

    NTSC drop frame (29.97 fps)
    Field order A
    MPEG files
    24 Bits, 720 x 480, 29.97 fps
    (DVD-NTSC)
Video data rate: Variable (Max. 6000 kbps)
    Audio data rate: 224 kbps
MPEG audio layer 2, 48 KHz, Joint stereo

Why would this not be a valid MPEG? What does MyDVD consider valid? I wouldn't bother with the Sonic product, were it not for the fact that it does motion menus, which the Ulead software won't do.

  2. Not sure about the video being rejected, though I know some previous version of MyDvd were fussy about the GOP structure. Audio though I understand why it transcodes. MyDvd only supports LPCM audio.
