Panasonic E50 and "Auto Set"

Is there anyway to disable the auto set on this recorder? I don't have an antenna or cable connected to the recorder (nor do I ever plan to record broadcast junk), so every time I turn the recorder on it wants to do the stupid auto set thing. To get it out of that mode I must open the tray (even if there is a blank disc in the tray) then close it. I have looked in setup however I can't find a way to disable it.

What would happen when you let it run first time all the way through ?

It just says "no signal found, check antenna or cable connection and try again".

I did discover that if I hit the return button on the remote it will then read the blank disc so at least I don't have to open and close the tray.

Hmmm.... Trying to recall what I did. I also have no antenna or cable hooked up to my E50. Seems like I went ahead and connected an antenna to the thing and let it go through its routine, then removed antenna and soldiered on without one....

Maybe I should try that and just hook up an antenna long enough to have the E50 find what it wants so it doesn't start off with the auto set every time.

Does anyone know how to resolve this issue? I have a e30 that all I have to do is move the channels up and down, but the e50 wants to scan for channels. What I'm doing for now on the e50 is just pressing the "Input" button.

Here's a solution that worked for me.

1) Connected a video source to the antenna input
2) Hit Enter and choose Set Up
3) Scroll to Channel
4) Auto Channel Settings
5) Pressed Enter
6) Found channel 3

Now I'm able to press the channel up and down arrows and change the source.
