I bought the Denon 1600 dvd player based on the rave reviews it was getting in the AVS forum.

    I have quite a few VCD's.

They played flawlessly in my $200 Pioneer dv-434 (3 years old).

They won't play at all in my Denon 1600. They judder and jump a few frames every second or every 2 seconds.

Has anyone else experienced this? Is there a workaround?

Let me ask the question in a different way.
Who has a Denon DVD 1600 (and there are many of you, judging by this forum) and has tried (successfully or unsuccessfully) to play VCD?

If you were successful, did you have to change some settings?

If you were unsuccessful, did you contact Denon (as their site clearly states the 1600 should play VCD) ?

    Thanks.

    Patrick

I've read something about either turning off(or ON) the PCB?....or somethng like that. I used to have to press the #1 on my remote....just the number ONE on my JVC.

I think I figured it out.
    They were SVCD, not VCD...

Then the question becomes: there is a 'VCD Header Trick' out there, that involves re-encoding the SVCD with a file header of VCD or VCD-NonStandard, but with the data and bitrate of SVCD.

Has anyone tried that on the 1600?
