  1. Have anybody experience any errors using DVD Shrink?
The error that I'm getting is cylindrical data error when analyzing the disc.
It craps out at 99%. It only happens on certain dvds. The fix that works on some dvd's is to remove DVD Shrink and then reinstall DVD Shrink and then re-analyze.

    Thanks for the help!

That sounds like a mechanical failure in your source drive. A test is to rip the DVD in ISO mode, mount the image in Daemon tools, then run shrink against it.

It can bet fat fingers also(dirty fingerprints on the edge).

  3. try using v2.3 first. do not compress yet. take that output into 3.0b5, shrink, and it might work. although reinstalling shrink may be faster if that solves the problem.

  4. Thanks for the reply. I just got home from WORK to see what the actual error message that I got using DVD Shrink.

    The message is:

    FAILED TO READ FROM FILE!

THE REASON IS : DATA ERROR (CYCLIC REDUNDANCY CHECK)

Do you think its the disc itself?

I've had this error, usually means a dirty or scratched disc, try ripping it with
another ripper to your hard drive first, then use DVD Shrink. :P

Or clean the disc!, if it's badly scratched you've got a problem.

  7. My DVD-Rom is a Liteon XJ_HD165H

I flash the latest firmware and was able to analze the disc using DVD Shrink but when I backed it up on to my HDD the same error appeared 75% through. The disc plays fine on my stand alone dvd play (Phillips 724). The disc has no visible scratch on it. I even tried using my DVD writer (Optorite DD203) and the same error appears. I'm really confuse.

    Just a thought

try ripping at times 1 speed . I use dvd decrypter. Wash the disk with warm soapy water and dry with a lint free cloth.
    try again
