Ok, I got a 25 pack of Ritek G04's from supermediastore.com a while back and I KNOW they burn at 4X. I've used these in another NEC ND1300A and they always detect and burn at 4X. I just recently purchased an ND 1300A myself, same drive, shipped with same firmware (1.06) and its connected via CSel (I think its selected as Slave though) just like in the other PC, but the weird thing is, DVD Decrypter tells me they are 2X Max. I tried max speed for writing in DVD Decrypter and it still burnt at 2, so out of curiousity I attempted a burn with Nero...oddly enough it let me burn it at 4X. I tried several of them, all detect at 4X. Do I need to upgrade my firmware? I hate using Nero for DVD's nowadays as it is a system resource hog but I want to burn at 4X, and DVD Decrypter won't allow me to. If you've got a firmware you can recommend, please do. Also, will it be ok to upgrade it while my jumpers are set to CSel? It also might be worth mentioning that I've been able to burn to Memorex DVD+R's at 4X without any problem, and they are detected at the proper speeds.

I'm sorry if this isn't the appropriate forum for this but no forum seemed to fit my description as I guess this is a burning issue.
