  1. I have a Denon DVD-1000 Region 2 DVD player that I have had for quite a while now and on the whole I am pretty happy with it. I have recently bought an Optorite Dual format DVD writer (DD0201) for my PC for backing up my DVD collection etc. When I got the player I bought a tub of 25 Bulpaq Orange 4x DVD-R media and was very impressed with the results, apart from a few coasters getting used to backing up DVD's for the first time!

I decided to buy another tub of 25 of this media when the first lot ran out, and these proved to be complete rubbish, my Denon player took a while to initially access each disc and when it eventually did the movie would often freeze up. I have since bought some better Ritek x2 DVD-R media that seems to have cured the freezing problems. However my Denon DVD-1000 player seems to need 4 attempts to initially access the movie with every disc I now make, the ones I made from the first tub access straight away. Once the discs I make now do access they play great so I guess I cannot complain. I have changed nothing on my PC so it must be a problem with the writer or my Denon player. I am going to try them on a friends player tommorrow to see if the discs behave the same on his machine. The discs do access straight away when playing them on the PC with Power DVD too. Just don't know what has caused this odd problem. Will the player taking a few attempts to initially access the backup damage my player in anyway? I guess if it does they are cheap now so it doesn't really matter. Anybody else have anything similar with this model?

  2. Tried the discs in a friends cheap play anything £50 pounds player from Richer Sounds and they access the discs first time. So I guess my Denon player is the problem, don't why the first discs I made play straight away. But as long as it plays them after a few attempts like it does I don't care! Might buy myself a DVD recorder for the television soon anyway!
