  1. I want to be able to switch the signal from the Yellow-Red-White connections of my vcr between my tv and my computer so that when I want to capture, I can just flip the switch to direct the signals to the pc instead of the tv. Can anyone point me to such a switch? Radio shack didn't have anything useful for this. Thanks.

A question sometimes brings up a great idea. I always just swapped out the cables when I was capturing from my camcorder, VCR, or TV. Then I came across your query. I did a search for "composite switchbox" and "hit the mother lode" for hits. I'm buying one from ebay (I like living dangerously), and it looks like what I need.
    Hello.

Check out this one. It's three ports, $3.95, and includes a cable.

  4. The one I bought was from Wal-Mart, I think. Anyways... I noticed that it puts waves in the picture as I have my DVD player and Playstation 2 hooked through it. I didn't know if there were better ones that would not cause that in my picture. It isn't super noticeable, but enough to bother me.

  5. Thanks for the suggestions. Mike V, I've got something like that but what I need is just the opposite. I need something that will direct one source to two components, not something that directs 3 sources to one device. Thanks for the info though.

Mike V's device should work fine, just wire it up backwards. The switch doesn't care which direction the signals are coming from. I have a quite similar situation where I use a Radio Shack switch to direct the output from my VCR to either my TV or DVD recorder.

Exactly. I'm using that exact switcher hooked up in reverse and it works fine (despite the idiot working at Circuit City that told me you couldn't hook up switchers in reverse).

maybe Macrovision protection on DVDs? Detecting switch as VCR or other rec. device?
