    Hi All -

I would like to know if the following equipment is commercially available and if so what is recommended. I suppose the most common nomenclature would be an A-B switch box. I am wanting to be able to connect my PC, PC monitor and television to an interconnect unit and have the capabilty to switch my PC video output signal to either the monitor or the television set.

    thnx,
    -Marcos

A-B or KVM would not do that. You need a means to output the TV signal. I've used a video card in the past to put my computer onto my big screen.

  3. There are VGA and DVI switches. But those will only work if your TV has VGA or DVI input.

  5. You can probably search Amazon or Google as well as I can.

For example, a VGA KVM switch: http://www.amazon.com/TRENDnet-2-Port-Switch-Cables-TK-209K/dp/B000L4D42Q/

    A DVI KVM switch: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16817801057

A dumb DVI switch may require that you reboot the computer when you want to switch between outputs.

A dual output display card can feed both and at different resolutions.

    here is the scenario :

The box would have a single input and two outputs (A-pc/B-tv) and a A-B selector switch. I connect a cable from the pc video output into the box input. I connect a cable from the box output-A into the pc monitor video input. I connect a cable from the box output-B into the tv video input. If I want to do typical pc chores I select 'A' on the box and turn on the pc monitor. If I want to watch video/dvd files from the pc I turn off the pc monitor, turn on the tv and select 'B' on the box.

thnx for the replies. As per my 'scenario', I am trying to keep this as simple and inexpensive as possible.

Found this - I 'think' something like this may work :

... any & all comments, critique and feedback welcome.

You are OK with reboot each switch?

    Further...

What is the native resolution of your computer monitor?

What is the native resolution of your TV?

If different you will have picture quality problems on one or the other unless you reset the display settings each time. That is why a $30 dual display card is a better solution.
