  1. I've created a VCD with still images (.jpg)
Unfortunately I've lost all of my originals and only have my VCD to go with.
Under the VCD directory there is a folder called 'SEGMENT' that I know contains the .jpg files. These pictures have been converted into .DAT files
    during author of the VCD.

Is there anyway on earth to get these files back to .jpg?

    PLEASE HELP...

    Kindest Regards,

You can try playing the VCD in PowerDVD, and step through the video frame by frame, taking a capture of whichever frames you need.

  3. I've tried it this way-with having over 200 pics. this would take me two days.
Any other help out there I would be thankful.

  4. I've no experience of slideshow-type VCD's at all, but I wonder if this would be any help:

VirtualDub can open a video file, and save it as a sequence of images (either Targa or BMP) - one per frame by the look of things, which makes sense.

This option is under File->Save Image Sequence.

If you got them all back as BMPs, there are loads of apps that could batch convert them back to JPG.

So, is there any way you can rip/convert your VCD into an avi or mpeg file?

You'd ideally want to convert it to one frame per image I suppose, in order for the image sequence in VirtualDub to be useful. That wouldn't be hard once you've got your video file though.

VCDGear has lots of functions to convert to/from .dat files in VCDs - I wonder if that would be any use?

These are just 'shots in the dark' really - but hopefully it'll give you some ideas.

    cheers,
    mcdruid.

  5. Capturing frames from Powerdvd wont take too long. U'll just need to press "next frame" and "c" 200 times...
