I am trying to find out if there is a program that can edit the mpeg audio stream extracted from a VOB file and save it again in the same format.
From an editing aspect I may wish to change the gain, equalization or shrink or lengthen the track time. The files are stereo extracted from Music videos. I have yet to find a program than can do this in one as I wish to keep the process as short as possible since I have 100's to edit.
I have used Cooledit but this only saves it to wav. When I create the DVD in TMPG Author using the wav audio, I end up with a large audio file for the Video. I want this to be Mpeg audio.
    Can someone help.

No matter how you go about it, when editing audio, it has to be in wav format. If you do it yourself, or let the editor do it "on the fly" doesn't matter much - the conversion from compressed (mp2 in your case) to uncompressed (wav) has to be done. If you want to keep the audio in the same format after finished editing, the same goes - you can reencode yourself, or let the editor do it.
