A friend is having a hard time backing up a PS2 game. Actually a few of them, mostly pretty new ones like Hulk, Wolverine and WWE whatever.

I have no answers for him.

Where can I turn? Quick Internet searches gave nothing.

Things like Nero, RecordNow and Roxio won't back them up. His other 25 or so games backup fine.

He tends to scratch them from heavy use, hence the backups.

Sort of off topic but played them all and:

    Hulk - waste of time
    Wolverine - waste of time
WWE - if its the same one I'm thinking of, entertaining for about a minute

  3. the hulk & wolverine should backup just fine.

i had a v7 ps2 (with the infamous double check protection) and 1:1 backups worked just fine..

it could be the media you're using.. try burning @ 1x..

i hacked the firmware on my a06 and burned some bealls @ 2x, they would not work for shit in my ps2, but when i burned them @ 1x, they worked fine.. so i unhacked the firmware and kept it default burning speeds..

the way i backup my games is to rip through dvd decrypter in iso mode & burn the iso with recordnow max 4.5 (global image or other type).

i dunno about WWE though, i dont play wrestling games. wrestling is softcore gay porn

Yup Jeex is correct they should work just fine
Might be your media try using apple, verbatim, or ritek.
Burning at a slower speed would probably help also.

Check to see if your originals are scratched or dirty also

  5. when ripping through dvd decrypter it will alert you if there are read errors.. that is why i prefer to rip through dvd decrypter instead of recordnow max.. and also you get a "universal" iso file.

Yeah, I told him to rip the ISO and try RNM to burn... we'll see where that goes. Thanks jeex.

I know it's not the media. He uses PVC, MXL and OPTODISC. It works on all other games, just these 3 new ones he got.

The Hulk and Wolverine were ok, the WWE (the new one) is horrible. It's the old WWE that was fun, but only if you play in groups of 3-4 at once. His games not mine, just helping out a friend.

I understand...but tell him if he wants some real entertainment, go get kill.switch(the punctuation between kill and switch is not a typo), and tony hawks underground...I rented them and they're really fun.

I do the same on my mac I make an image first using toast and it will tell you if it has errors when trying to copy it also

I never go disk to disk for this reason (unless its a brand new game that I am trying to protect)
