  1. What's the best DVD writing software to burn ripped DVD files eg.VOB,IFO,Bub for VIDEO_TS , AUDIO_TS folders. In the past I have used NERO DVD-Video template and NERO UDF/ISO template to burn the VIDEO_TS, AUDIO_TS folders onto DVDs. But what is the best software to burn a fantastic fully compliant DVD.????? Is it NERO??? Because NERO sometimes doesn't seem to work?

Latest version of Nero (6.0.0.23) seems to have fixed the very annoying DVD-R coaster bug, and also a few other minor things that caused me to use other software 'till they fixed them

When using the versions since 6.0.0.19, you MUST use the DVD-Video template when burning a DVD-R, the UDF workaround doesn't work as a video disk anymore

Its mentioned somewhere on the Nero site or in the docs that to get the files in the correct order to play on a DVD player, you now have to use the DVD-Video template from either the wizard or menu

Follow this and you should now have no problems, I've gone back to Nero and things are back to how they were (so far ......)

If you try and burn it as a UDF, then it will simply come up with a menu when you want to play it from a standalone DVD player, as it now thinks its a data/audio disk

    I know from experience !!

  3. Use Stomp's RecordNowMax, it works everytime. I used to burn with Nero, not anymore

  4. Personally, I use "ImageTools Classic" to create a correct DVD-Video
iso image from the VIDEO_TS/AUDIO_TS directories ... and then I
burn the iso image to a DVD-R or a DVD+R using the iso write
    mode in "DVDdecrypter".

Till now, I haven't got any problem. All the disks I made have been
accepted by all the standalone players I tried.

Both ImageTools and DVDdecrypter are free software.

IMG Tools Classic. Then it doesn't matter what you burn the ISO with, you've taken all the guesswork out. DVDDecryptor works well (but not for NEC1300a, confirmed bug).

IMG Tools Classic will make sure VIDEO_TS and AUDIO_TS are present and capitalized. You can also mount the ISO with DAEMON tools to check your work (mandatory if you are Authoring).

  6. I use GearPro. 300 plus flawless burns and counting.

Vega1970 why go to all the trouble to make an ISO? What advantages do you see?

  7. To FoolishBret:

The DVD burning program I got with my Pioneer writer is
Pinacle InstantDVD. It works like a charme to build DVD-Roms
and copy disks, but it does not have a predefined profile to make
    a DVD-Video disk.

Without a predefined profile, it's hard to make a fully
DVD-video compliant disk. There are many constraints you must
fullfill (UDF 1.02 filesystem, Uppercase filenames, don't forget the
AUDIO_TS dir, etc...). If you forget one constraint, you can get an
    unusable disk.

So I decided to use Image Tools Classics to create the disk because
    1) It's free, and
    2) It makes fully DVD-video compliant disks and it's nearly impossible to
do a mistake, for it does not ask too many difficult questions
(in fact, it only asks "where's the VIDEO_TS dir ?", "What's the volume
label ?" and "Where do I put the iso file ?").

There's a version of Image Tools that can burn to DVD directly, but
it needs Nero ... and I don't have it. That's why I create an iso image
and burn it with DVD decrypter (Pinacle Instant DVD only accepts
.pdi images ... so I have to use DVD decryptor ... which is free
    and can burn .iso files).

CloneDVD burns DVD's even if you don't encode with it. You can encode using DVD shrink if you want and then use CloneDVD to burn. NEVER have had a problem with it.

I have tried several (Nero 6, TMPG DVD Author, and Imgtool with DVD Decrypter) with my Pioneer A05. So far the only method that has burned no coasters is Imgtool with DVD Decrypter. I usually mount the image with Daemon Tools prior to burning.
