DivX AVI to anything else

I have a DivX AVI and I want to convert it to something else. The reason for this is when I use the latest DivX player the avi file plays perfect for about 10 minutes and then it just hangs and I have to reset the machine (I have no keyboard or mouse interaction at this point). I ahve tried a few different ways to convert this file (Mainconcept and VitrualDub) but both fail to convert the whole file due to the file have small pieces of corupt frames. I have also used Tmpg to convert to MPG but the file plays up to the point of the corupt frame and the audio progresses with the same frame being shown. If I fast forward the file it still shows the same frame.
I was wondering if there is any program that will by pass the corupt frames and ignore the errors because there is good frames because I have veiwed at least an hour of the file using DivX player.
I am sorry to go on but I would really like to be able to watch the file with out it crashing my machine or stopping a bit into the file.

You need to remove those bad frames, then you can play/convert or whatever you want. Virtualdub is one way of doing this. Just open the avi file, select Video->scan stream for errors. When it has finished select video->direct stream copy, audio->direct stream copy, file->save avi and give it a new name. This will save out a new copy of the avi with the bad frames removed.

If this doesn't work there are many posts and a couple of guides on removing bad frames, do a forum search for more info.
