This is my first newbie post so if I am in the wrong area, please advise me so!
I am new to this game and have just captured a solid block of video from dv camera to the drive, with no chapters or other interruptions, just continuous video.
All I wish to do is author this so that the beginning fades in from black and the ending fades out to black, then burn it to dvd.
I have SonicDVD, a trial of Premiere, and a few other bits and pieces but am unsure how to go about it. You could say that Premiere is not actually intuitive for the novice............
Regardless, I would appreciate advice as the method, or perhaps a freeware easy to use utility that performs this apparently simple action.
Any advice is greatly appreciated

Hi,
I've recently moved upto AP 6.5, but 6 should do this too.
Goto File> New>Black video. This is create a 6 second clip of just black video (surprisingly).
Place your original video clip on line 1, the black clip on line 2, then goto the transitions menu.
Find dissolve, search for "cross-dissolve". Place this on the "transitions" line. You can lengthen or shorten the transition so that the time it takes for the clips to change from black to video will change. The end of the transition will overlap both clips; hopefully this will come out correctly:
B L A C K C L I P B L A C K C L I P
transition transition
V I D E O C L I P
Hope this helps.
Bill
