    I know this is really basic advice that I ask for, but I am quite computer illiterate!

    I have tried capturing images from DVDs using several programs, but all I end up with is a black screen. How can I prevent this from happening?
    Also, can anyone advise a good capturing program? Most of what I've found on the net were trial versions.

    You mean still images?

    PowerDvd and WinDvd both have screenshot facilities.
