  1. HI...I recently purchased a pinnacle PCTV. I tried to capture some videos from a VHS player but the video freezes randomly at some point during the capturing. the audio is fine but the video just stops. Sometimes about 30 minutes and sometimes at about an hour. someone told me I should switch to a 4X instead of the 8X video card that Im using but still it doesnt work. Another said I should switch to windows 2000 instead of windows Xp that Im using. An then another one said I should change the chipset coz this might be the problem or switch motherboards. What should I do?

    My computer specs are:

    Intel pentium 4 2.4 Ghz
    Intel board D865PERL
    512 MB Ram
    Red Fox Ge Force4 64MB 8X
    Invidia Chipset 8X

I hate to tell you, but you need to take that TV Tuner back and get a WIN PVR 250 that has an MPEG-2 encoder chip. Pinnacle tuner cards are fine for watching TV, but that's about it. There's just not enouigh hardware on the card for doing quality captures.

  3. Hi there! Yes, I hate to tell you this as well, but you have to get rid of this card....I bought a PCTV Pro about a month ago and had the same problem. Apart from the freezing problems the quality while capturing fron a VCR was horrible if compared to other cards and I guess what we all want when capturing from our all VCR tapes is the same quality, but I'm sorry to tell you you won't achieve it with this card. After a couple of weeks testing mine I had to give it back and purchased a DC10. Pretty normal card, but with a huge difference over the PCTV. Good luck!
