Hello guys.

I just both a capturing video card :

pinnacle pctv 310i the italian version because I live in Italy.

I istalled the card and then I got 2 cd's:

1) is the Pinnacle studio 9 quick start , that I installed easily.

2) I got a Mediacenter software version3.4A

With this second cd ( media center software ) I have problem installing it.
It tells me that I need windows sp2.
I do NOT want install windows sp2 , I want stay with windows sp1 .

Is there any version of this software that I can install in my windows xp sp1 ??

Do I really need this program ??
Is there any other program that could substitute the media center software ??

Can u suggest me some cool software that I could use with my pinnacle pctv 310i ??

What do u think about this card ?? I read that many people have problem with it . Is this true ??
For the same price 99 euros , do u suggest another card ??

Is it possible with this card to record 2 or more tv shows that air on tv at the same time and on different channels ??

If I do not install pinnacle pctv mediacenter software , it seems that I can not use the card to watch the tv on my pc.

Do u know any other software alternative that I could use to import tv signal with my card ??

WinXP SP2 works fine. There was a time when there were some hardware conflicts etc. but my understanding is that all of those "bugs" have been worked out ... in short there is no fear in upgrading to WinXP SP2.

It would seem that the software/hardware combination you have requires WinXP SP2 so you either upgrade to it OR you return the Pinnacle PCTV 310i from where you bought it and/or sell it off on eBay etc.

You can't fight software/hardware requirements.

Hello guys. I installed sp2 and then installed pinnacle media center software but I am having problem in recording tv programs.

As I saw ,that the mediacenter software is a software that let me setup all the programs ( like a tv tuner ) and also let me record the tv show.

My problem is that I can NOT record the tv show using mediacenter software , because it saves mpeg completely black and with a chopping audio.

Can u suggest me a program that let me record the tv show and that I could use instead of mediacenter software ??

I am thinking of using the mediacenter software as tv tuner and another program to record.
Do u have also a tutorial for this other recording applicatiojn ??

DIdn't see a lot of info on your hardware, but a guess would be there's a problem with the mpg2 codec -- have you tried a complete uninstall & reinstall of drivers & mediacenter software? Otherwise the tools section lists a few capture programs -- there are really a lot of them available, most with tutorials, most fairly easy to use.

Many folks like virtualdub, others virtualvcr, but with so many choices, hard to say what you'ld like.

ProgDVB , for the digital channel

and

Christv , for the analogic channels

I have a question reguarding what setting I could use to have good qualkity video images that do not take so many gigs .

I would like to record tv movies so 1/30 2 hours record shows.

Hi SPinyol, I have a Pinnacle PCTV Pro 310i Hybrid PCI, i installed latest drivers from pinnacle, but still have problems with my PC. Many times i need to restart it to make the tv device work.

I see you have wrote anyware to try with this drivers, you say from terratec site but the only thing i found with 'PTV 380 WHQL Driver 1.3.3.1' is on ADS Tech site.
Can you please tell me exactly the link where i can download this drivers you said ?
Are they maybe the drivers of Terratec Cinergy HT PCI ?

I am having a nightmare with this card. I installed it on Sunday and it was working fine. However I tried to use the remote control and no matter what button I press it records. Secondly I came to use it today and tried to load up a channel and got nothing but a blank screen with this pic:

I use the PCTV 310i card with the drivers of the PTV-380-EF card from ADS Tech (forced drivers):
updating pinnacle drivers then I have a disk with the drivers and forced to use them.
Be carefull with automathic updates about the new driver so they want to modify to return to the original
manufacturer driver.
