I just got my new Lite-ON and was very happy with it but now I notice that it will not play any DVDs that I have authored on my PC. It plays Divx etc fine off the same DVD-Rs and I can play pretty much all downloaded media but anything I made myself with DVDMaestro or DVD2one will not play, I get the message " Cannot display current JPEG file". I have the current firmware (229) and these discs work fine in both my JVCs, my Shinco, my Apex and my Pioneer DVD players. I dont have either of the PCMCIA adapters in. I thought this thing played everything and now I am finding out that it wont even play the simplest of burned DVDs. Any ideas anyone?

Hello eldudereno, sorry to see that you've got no replies. Here's one
I have the LiteOn 2001 also (firmware 229), one of my DVD's has the same problem as you described ("Cannot display current JPEG file", strange message don't you think?). . The strange thing is that I use the same method to author my DVD-R's and there's only one that's giving me trouble, I think I'm going to re-burn thisone and I'll let you know what the result is.
I have a question for you as well, my LiteOn is connected using the composite to scart connector, I live in Holland so I selected the PAL version on "P-SCAN", whenever there's a white screen (laserblast or thunder) the there's a glitch visible on the TV (Sony btw.). If I set P-SCAN to NTSC and adjust the brightness ond the LiteOn to -1 there's no problem, the downside of this solution is that the screen is a bit dark and sometimes the subs are almost unreadable (it's readable when P-SCAN is set to PAL!). OK the question ... did you encounter the same problem or do you live in a NTSC country where you don't have to worry about the scart connector?

I think I figured it out. I have been burning all my DVDs in Nero as DVD-UDF with Xbox compatability after readind a post here about problems with Nero. Every copy has worked great, and as I said played in my 5-6 other players as well as most of my friends/familys. So I burned my next DVD using the DVD-Video Template in Nero and it works in the Lite-on no problem. Its just lame that my previous ~50 burns that play in everything else with have to be redone in order to work in this unit. Hopefully a future firmware addresses this issue. And sorry Ren but I am in Canada so I havent had the same problem as u, but thx for the reply.

PS - Happy Happy Happy, Joy Joy Joy.

5h!t, you're absolutely right. I've burned the "unwilling" DVD-R with NERO aswell in DVD-UDF t make sure the "compatability" is OK .... NOT!
The rest of the DVD's are made with RecordNow Max, no problems there

I kinda figured out my problem (the glitch), I've routed the LiteOn through my VCR using SCART and my problem is solved. I think the signal from the LightOn has a high output (at least to high for my old SONY TV) and the VCR brings it down to a more standard level so the TV can cope with it. Ah well, guessing doesn't prove anything, I'll do some thorrough research.
    Thanks anyway.
