  1. Hi
i've yet to buy a dvd burner but am trying to do my homework so i hit the ground running so to speak
just wondering if it's possible to convert AC3 divx/xvid to DVD whilst keeping the AC3 sound intact? and if so is there a guide made for it or even better a one stop solution to save using loads of little proggies?
any help is appreciated on this cos i know a fair bit about vcd/svcd conversion but absolutly nothing about DVD atm!
    thanks in advance

You might want to consider getting the LiteOn LVD-2001 DVD player. This stand alone DVD player not only plays normal DVD discs but can also play DivX and Xvid from CD-R as well as DVD-R discs.

Thus no need to convert your DivX/Xvid files to MPEG-2 DVD format.

The unit costs around $140 to $150

I don't have one myself but I am thinking of getting it and probably would have one if it wasn't for the fact that I'm always too low on money hehehe

Here is a thread about it:

Yes, you can do it. Actually it makes things simpler, assuming you can author from M2V andAC3 files.

  5. thanks for the response's
i thought i'd seen some sort of guides on the site earlier but wasn't sure if they were for AC3 or not i guess it'll all make a bit more sense when i've actually got my burner and i can play about properly!

re: the liteon player, i had no idea there was one out! i knew about the kiss player but it seemed to be near on impossible to get one in the UK but i'm very impressed with the specs on the liteon and the fact that theres still loads more possibilties for it cos of the similarities to a PC

    theres me wages spent again!
